SUNFLEX APPLICATION METHODS
We recommend 3 different application methods according to the intended use, aesthetic preferences, and maintenance expectations of wooden surfaces.
GENERAL RULE BEFORE APPLICATION
Before application in all systems:
- - The surface must be protected against decay, fungi, and insects with transparent or colored impregnation.
- - It should be applied evenly with a brush, and excess should be wiped off with a dry cloth.
- - Drying times must be strictly observed.
(Sunflex's recommended standard method)
Water-Based Colorant
+ 2 Coats of Water-Based Varnish
- ADVANTAGES:
- - High performance, long life
- - Vivid color and brightness
- - Maintenance-free for up to 5 years
- - 1 coat of water-based semi-transparent colorant is applied, excess is wiped off, dried for 4-6 hours.
- - After drying, 2 coats of exterior varnish are applied. Wait 1.5-2 hours between coats. (If it exceeds 3 hours, light sanding is done.)
- It should be visually checked every year. If necessary, 1.5-2 coats of renewal can be done after light sanding.
Transparent Impregnation
+ 2 Coats of Colored Varnish
- ADVANTAGES:
- - Shows wood texture semi-transparently
- - Balances color differences
- - Provides 5 years of protection
- - 1 coat of water-based impregnation is applied.
- - After drying, 2 coats of colored varnish are applied. (Water-based or solvent-based)
- It should be visually checked every year. If necessary, 1.5-2 coats of renewal can be done after light sanding.
((Hybrid Oil))
Colorant or Impregnation
+ 1 Coat of Natural Oil
- ADVANTAGES:
- - Does not form a film layer.
- - Preserves the natural matte appearance of wood.
- - Ideal for floors and pergolas.
- - Maintenance every 2 years is sufficient.
- - 1 coat of water-based colorant or impregnation is applied.
- - After drying, 1 coat of natural wood oil is applied.
- It should be visually checked every year. If necessary, 1.5-2 coats of renewal can be done after light sanding.

- Dark colors fade faster, require more frequent maintenance.
- Transparent paints show texture, opaque paints cover it.
WHY IS MAINTENANCE NECESSARY?
Varnished exterior surfaces wear out due to external effects such as UV, rain, wind, etc. Therefore, it is recommended to visually check the surface at regular intervals and perform maintenance on worn surfaces.
