Sunflex is a Do It Yourself (DIY) Pergola Bracket System.
The traditional pergola method is created by notching the ends and various parts of the pergola timbers and joining them together. Since wood is a soft material, the joints need to be strong, and struts will be required to keep the pergola standing. All notched areas will also have to be reinforced with screws, bolts, L and U elements, or much more expensive fasteners. Moreover, it will be difficult to make it plumb and level.
The Sunflex System is created by welding 90-degree cut and bent parts to form 90-degree angles again. It firmly grips the pergola timber from all 4 sides, ensuring a pergola that always stays straight and maintains its strength against wind, human impact, and blows without any issues.
The Sunflex Bracket System can be easily assembled in the installation area with suitable timber without the need for notching and cutting. The Sunflex System will save you time and labor while giving you confidence in your pergola.

Timber types vary by region. The timber to be used varies widely in price from construction timber to extra class depending on the need. Timber transportation is very expensive. It is also a material prone to damage during transport. To allow for choice in variety, we do not include timber.
Nevertheless, for our customers who insist, we offer high-quality wooden beams produced with our partner brand Timberlex.
Since the ground where the pergola will be placed will vary, we expect you to decide on the correct fixing anchor screws.
Timber and Wood Selection
Dry timber resistant to outdoor weather conditions should be used.
Although tree types vary by country and climate, the most commonly used and reasonably priced ones are pine species containing resin in their pores, such as Cedar, Spruce, Scots Pine, and Black Pine.
While hardwoods like Chestnut, Ash, Oak, Eucalyptus, and Acacia can be used, exotic woods of African origin like Iroko, Mahogany, and Obeche can also be used.
Timber can be stocked by rough cutting in cross-sections of 5 x 10 cm, 10 x 10 cm, and 15 x 15 cm in the market. These dimensions can drop down to 4.5 x 9.5 and 9.5 x 9.5 cm in rough cutting from company to company.
Considering a 5 mm fine craftsmanship allowance, the timber to be used in our Sunflex Brackets should have dimensions of 9×9 and 14×14 cm.
Considering that changes in weather conditions and surface treatments applied to the timber can alter the wood dimensions, the inner dimensions of our Sunflex Brackets are left as 92x92 and 142x142.
You can make the dimensions of your pergola according to the condition of your space or your preference.
According to standard timber lengths in the market and the standards of our shade sails, for 9 x 9 cross-sections (These dimensions are given so you can calculate if your pergola will fit your space.)
You can expand the outer dimension of 260 x 260 cm up to 360 cm by adding 50 cm increments, and for 14 x 14 cm cross-sections, you can expand the outer dimension of 270 x 270 cm up to 420 cm by adding 50 cm increments. For larger needs, you should use struts or increase the number of sections.

The Sunflex outer dimension standard is based on the dimensions at which you can procure timber from the market.
Timber lengths to be used in construction and furniture range from a maximum of 6 meters down to 3 meters, taking transportation into account starting from the forest cut. In subsequent processing stages, the durability, usage needs, and processing conveniences of the timber come into play.
It is prepared and stored in lengths of 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5, 6 meters to be offered to the market.
Considering its availability in the market, Sunflex has considered net timber lengths as 240 cm, 290 cm, 340 cm, and 390 cm, and prepared its shade sails according to these dimensions. The height of your pergola can be applied as 250 cm for 9x9 and 255 cm for 14x14, using a timber length of 240 cm for the posts. We recommend wooden column spans up to 350 cm for 9×9 timber cross-sections and up to 400 cm for 14×14 cm timber cross-sections. You can increase the spans by a maximum of 80 cm for each 9×9 column and a maximum of 100 cm for each 14×14 cm column by using 45Flex struts. Otherwise, the wooden material may sag in the middle to a degree that will bother you.

Shade Sails
Sunflex Shade Sails are made of UV-resistant, high-density, and highly durable polypropylene material. Sunflex Shade Sails are strong and long-lasting to protect you from 90% of UVA and UVB. Sunflex Shade Sails are harmless to health. They are resistant to high temperature and humidity conditions.
We recommend not leaving the shade sails out to prevent damage in winds exceeding 50 km/h and to keep them from getting dirty in winter.

Technical Details and Installation
The brackets are produced with sufficient durability to carry wooden beams.
You can attach the brackets to each beam with 6 screws as shown below. The extra holes left in the brackets are there so you can hang other Sunflex products or some accessories that might be needed.
